Fun-a-Day Reseda

The Reseda show was insane (in a good way)!

(the main project, 31 food based elemental dragons in 31 days)

(The supplemental projects)

(the gug and forbidden fruit sauce)

 (the Red Tea)

There were amazing pieces from great artists. A few were political (anti-wall, anti-immigration hate, a tribute to children killed in class room violence), which was cool as it activated my interest in those matters. There were 4 musical groups, killer.

My own display was jam packed with people who enjoyed the match a dragon to the name game. Holy hell I didn't stop talking for nearly 7 hrs!  I also got a lot of people for my UV pieces. The food appeared to be a hit; at least the gug and red tea, the fermented fruit sauce not so much lol. Some even came over after tasting the items to see their corresponding art.

The kiddies were great. I found many who could out smart adults in the guessing game, which gave me much satisfaction. Most were highly intrigued by the UV paintings, even asking to do UV paintings with me (alas, no paint on hand but I could tell them where to get it). My favorite was a little boy who stayed with me over an hour going through everything, including the reading. I loved the enthusiasm and intelligence he showed. It warmed my heart to be among all of these amazing kids.

On a personal note: never go days without sleep before an event. Holy crap I was hallucinating that my paintings were dancing to the music! By the end of it, I felt like I got ran over by a truck carrying a cold. I just slept for 3 days straight to recover.

Santa Monica Show, Success!

Today was a challenge for the SM show, there was a bought of heavy rain that affected some of the people from coming down. I decided to take the long way (freeways) vs the canyon (faster) cause of the rain (mudslides). I left early, but extra traffic made for mad traffic; was almost an hr late.

For being sparse, it was fun. Three of us had interactive pieces. It was fun and satisfying that people enjoyed the interactive part of mine. I had people try to match the dragon to the plant they were based on. I wish I could make it an app game lol.

Things to ponder upon for future shows:

Dragons were a hit, even if people were unfamiliar with the spiritual concepts. I should do more of the hanging variety (find a way to make them more durable and easier to sell), there is interest for window hanging. Perhaps go through with the individual dragon prints of the more popular ones. The recipe group caught people's eye, but most seemed to react like it was weird. The idea of a cookbook may be where I go for this one, then find the DnD groups and/or pagan fests. I am definitely going to press into the other elemental dragons, figure out what will be good for cards, and finish my dragon rune divination deck.

My Sumerian Gug was a huge hit. I am going to do another for the next show, hoping my pan will be in by then. I am thinking of making the Forbidden Knowledge if the fruit are in season. I may be able to have a sign on it saying something akin to "like these? go purchase the recipe print over >>> ." If I go this route I need to make another recipe painting... "Gug." Which could be fun, I could go Levantian themed for that one.

UV paintings are definitely a huge draw, those were the ones that sparked impulse buying. Maybe I should work on building a display box with a small UV fluorescent. The UV flashlight worked for its purpose, but not as eye drawing as it could have been with a dark box and stronger UV constantly going.

Definitely I should expand the UV collections (scorpion, astrological, horror flowers). They may do well in large format or keep with the small, quick sale items.

People don't seem to see a difference between social media and mail list. Instead of building a client list for email, I got people following my social media. I believe the SM will work similarly to the mailing list.

Dragons & UV @ Fun-a-Day

This year I'm showing dragons!

They are nature kin elemental dragons, known as the Ninathen. These are 31 dragons based upon my personalized diet (explained here: https://dragonatrixdiet.blogspot.com/2018/07/the-dragonatrix-diet.html).

I am also offering some prints of my recipes done as dragons. Yes the recipes will be on the back!

Finally I am going to offer some UV minis in scorpion and horror flower variations.

Updates

I know it has been a minute since I've updated this, a lot has been going on.

I have done a lot work with divination trying to perfect my Sumerian deck. I am also doing research to get it enriched past the information just in one book. I want a whole working system out of it.

I have also revamped my Instagram (also @KhaotykArtwerx) to be art and divination based. It's admittedly mostly divination based right now with many different decks, including the WIP Sumerian deck. I am working my skills as a reader while seeing where I need to develop the deck more... and well, getting hype for the deck hehe.

Another exciting project, much faster project, is a rune card deck idea. It was meant to be an Inktober challenge, but October went psycho on me. Last year I did nearly 60 cards in 31 days, this year I did 14 in 31 days. The 31 cards will be done and put to print by Jan at the latest, trying to find the time to finish them well before then. I felt horrid not getting my deadline done as this was my first time in years not hitting a deadline, but it I couldn't help it, life happened.

I'm going to be organizing and consolidating my home to make art (and tending to the home) easier with my health challenges. I will be getting around to updating my portfolio sites as well after my home is organized. The updates may include sneak peaks at the card projects! Look for those changes in 2018.

Updates and Stalker Info

Wow, I have not updated this in a hot minute! I seem to remember to update the fb more than the other media outlets since it's on my phone and always in my face. hehe

Where to start? I have not been doing much art due to health reasons, but I have been working on a prototype for a Sumerian Oracle deck. I am six more cards away from hopefully the full meaning needs. Then can start finding out answers to vital questions before I begin the paintings for the actual images. Right now they are simply the various deities visages put to aspects inked upon 4x6 note cards. I keep a blog where I post their test readings (down below) and my fb artist page has their art.

Once I find out answers to things like "can I scan light effect paint, textures, layered canvas, etc well?" "what is the largest dimmension I can scan?" "how much per scan with images on cd?" etc. Then "how much to have you print lithos, small cardstock versions, posters?" (promos, selling, etc.) and "where can I get fabric printed?" I will begin the art process... yes for me it will be more than just do a doodle.

The process will look like:

  1. Take the aspect I'm concentrating on that day and meditate upon it. Maybe I use crystals and incense with music to get my vibe going.
  2. Channel what that deity is speaking to me about that aspect and visage via sketching.
  3. Add in all the fine details and esoteric symbols to deepen the image.
  4. Do the painting in fine detail, large scale so I don't miss anything.
  5. Use my channeling again in written format to glean the meaning for the accompanying book.

Shadow Self Tarot Readings

I've started to do Shadow Self Tarot Readings lately. Not only have I done the cards based upon the Giger deck, but I add a layer of my automatic art channeling. I am going to do these as sketching and painting options for 100$ and 200$ base price respectively (for shipping in the continental US). Obviously, the larger the piece, the more money. I will include my interpretations, but with the art you will have the ability to reflect upon it and derive your own interpretations. This will allow you to begin shadow working and healing journeys.

One Determined Artist!

As I get closer to the finish of the revamp I get excited to get back to doing art again and less business things. I am through probably 3/4 of what I need of the Corporate Identity Package, finished an icon for sites, watermark for digital images, profile image, and a splash page with contact/follow information. I am going to be applying for my first official company job with another company that I admire. So, I'm working hard to finish up with getting the websites unified at least before I go to sleep tonight. Then I'll be down to just figuring out graphics for the sites and basic web design stuff before I can get hardcore back into planning for my many projects. I am pumped and on a roll! I will have something awesome to show the ladies at my all women artist support group on Fri.
