Fun-a-Day Reseda

The Reseda show was insane (in a good way)!

(the main project, 31 food based elemental dragons in 31 days)

(The supplemental projects)

(the gug and forbidden fruit sauce)

 (the Red Tea)

There were amazing pieces from great artists. A few were political (anti-wall, anti-immigration hate, a tribute to children killed in class room violence), which was cool as it activated my interest in those matters. There were 4 musical groups, killer.

My own display was jam packed with people who enjoyed the match a dragon to the name game. Holy hell I didn't stop talking for nearly 7 hrs!  I also got a lot of people for my UV pieces. The food appeared to be a hit; at least the gug and red tea, the fermented fruit sauce not so much lol. Some even came over after tasting the items to see their corresponding art.

The kiddies were great. I found many who could out smart adults in the guessing game, which gave me much satisfaction. Most were highly intrigued by the UV paintings, even asking to do UV paintings with me (alas, no paint on hand but I could tell them where to get it). My favorite was a little boy who stayed with me over an hour going through everything, including the reading. I loved the enthusiasm and intelligence he showed. It warmed my heart to be among all of these amazing kids.

On a personal note: never go days without sleep before an event. Holy crap I was hallucinating that my paintings were dancing to the music! By the end of it, I felt like I got ran over by a truck carrying a cold. I just slept for 3 days straight to recover.

Santa Monica Show, Success!

Today was a challenge for the SM show, there was a bought of heavy rain that affected some of the people from coming down. I decided to take the long way (freeways) vs the canyon (faster) cause of the rain (mudslides). I left early, but extra traffic made for mad traffic; was almost an hr late.

For being sparse, it was fun. Three of us had interactive pieces. It was fun and satisfying that people enjoyed the interactive part of mine. I had people try to match the dragon to the plant they were based on. I wish I could make it an app game lol.

Things to ponder upon for future shows:

Dragons were a hit, even if people were unfamiliar with the spiritual concepts. I should do more of the hanging variety (find a way to make them more durable and easier to sell), there is interest for window hanging. Perhaps go through with the individual dragon prints of the more popular ones. The recipe group caught people's eye, but most seemed to react like it was weird. The idea of a cookbook may be where I go for this one, then find the DnD groups and/or pagan fests. I am definitely going to press into the other elemental dragons, figure out what will be good for cards, and finish my dragon rune divination deck.

My Sumerian Gug was a huge hit. I am going to do another for the next show, hoping my pan will be in by then. I am thinking of making the Forbidden Knowledge if the fruit are in season. I may be able to have a sign on it saying something akin to "like these? go purchase the recipe print over >>> ." If I go this route I need to make another recipe painting... "Gug." Which could be fun, I could go Levantian themed for that one.

UV paintings are definitely a huge draw, those were the ones that sparked impulse buying. Maybe I should work on building a display box with a small UV fluorescent. The UV flashlight worked for its purpose, but not as eye drawing as it could have been with a dark box and stronger UV constantly going.

Definitely I should expand the UV collections (scorpion, astrological, horror flowers). They may do well in large format or keep with the small, quick sale items.

People don't seem to see a difference between social media and mail list. Instead of building a client list for email, I got people following my social media. I believe the SM will work similarly to the mailing list.

Dragons & UV @ Fun-a-Day

This year I'm showing dragons!

They are nature kin elemental dragons, known as the Ninathen. These are 31 dragons based upon my personalized diet (explained here: https://dragonatrixdiet.blogspot.com/2018/07/the-dragonatrix-diet.html).

I am also offering some prints of my recipes done as dragons. Yes the recipes will be on the back!

Finally I am going to offer some UV minis in scorpion and horror flower variations.
